Project  Spile

Community structure and parasite transmission in the Eparses Islands.

The objective of the project is to test the effect of the composition of seabird and tick communities on the diversity and dynamics of infectious agent transmission.

The islands of the western Indian Ocean, especially the Scattered Islands, are characterized by highly heterogeneous host and vector community structures, which are subject to significant changes due to their management. For parasites, these structural changes could promote host shifts or spillover events.
