New technology based on gold nanoparticles and B-cell epitopes of the N protein of SARS-CoV-2 to generate anti-betacoronavirus antibodies
This project aims at developping gold nanoparticles grafted with synthetic antigenic peptides derived from the S protein of SARS-CoV-2 for the production of anti-coronavirus antibodies.
The NanoPeptCoVID-19 project has led to the production of gold nanoparticles grafted with synthetic peptides corresponding to linear B-cell epitopes of the S protein of SARS-CoV-2. Immunization of mice with gold nanoparticles grafted with viral peptides via intramuscular injection and without adjuvant has resulted in the generation of specific antibodies against SARS-CoV-2, including the Omicron variant. This innovative technology could be applicable to the production of antibodies for detecting emerging betacoronaviruses. The findings have been published in Scientific Reports (12:5999, 2022) and later in Nanoarchitectonics (2023).
