Teaching

Through their multidisciplinary expertise, the members of the PIMIT unit are involved in teaching at the Bachelor's and Master's levels at the University of Reunion Island within three faculties: the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Faculty of Humanities and Environmental Sciences, and the Faculty of Science and Technology. : the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Faculty of Humanities and Environmental Sciences, and the Faculty of Science and Technology. They contribute approximately 1000 teaching hours per year and are responsible for several teaching units (x14).

The PIMIT unit is a major player in the Tropical Infectiology mention of the Master's in Biology and Health (Faculty of Health Sciences), and also contributes to the Master's in Biodiversity and Tropical Ecosystems (Faculty of Science and Technology).

The faculty members and doctoral students of the unit are also involved in the curricula of the PACES (First Year Common Health Studies), Nursing Training Institutes (IFSI), the second year of medicine (DFGSM), and Anesthesia Nursing (IADEs).

In addition to the internationalization of teaching and the exchange of pedagogical practices, the International Credit Mobility (MIC) ERASMUS+ project between the University of Reunion Island (UR) and the Lebanese University (UL) (PI: Chaker EL KALAMOUNI) enabled 20 faculty members (10 from UL and 10 from UR) to teach courses within the Master's in Biology and Health at UR and the Master's in Molecular Diagnostics at UL. Since 2019, a double degree agreement has been established, allowing more than 24 students to obtain a double degree between the two institutions.

 The UMR PIMIT fully contributes to the new ILIADE project (Innovation through Plants and Artificial Intelligence for India and France) led by the University of Reunion Island aiming at the creation of a Franco-Indian campus in the Indo-Pacific region in the field of Life Sciences for Health. The objective of the ILIADE project, involving several French universities (University Lyon 1 and 2 and University of Poitiers) and the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), is to establish a joint master's program in biosciences and health, taught in English, offering two specialized tracks (therapeutic approaches using natural substances and AI for health) and integrating cross-border study and internship mobility. The project is based on a European degree model (two years of study and 120 ECTS).
