Biographie :
Camille Lebarbenchon is a disease ecologist studying the transmission dynamics and molecular evolution of RNA viruses in wildlife, with a particular focus on bats and birds on tropical islands. His research combines field ecology, virology, and molecular approaches to investigate viral diversity, host–virus interactions, and mechanisms of cross-species transmission.

His work examines (i) viral transmission and evolution in native host species, (ii) the epidemiological consequences of interactions between native and introduced species, (iii) human–wildlife interfaces and their implications for health and conservation, and (iv) viral circulation across island networks. Framed within a One Health perspective, his research addresses how ecological processes, global change, and human activities shape the transmission and spillover of RNA viruses in rapidly changing environments.
Enseignement :
He teaches in undergraduate (Licence) and graduate (Master) programs in Life Sciences and Biology–Health, covering ecology, disease ecology, emerging infectious diseases, and scientific methodology. His teaching emphasizes critical analysis of scientific literature, research design, and integrative approaches linking ecology and health. He is particularly involved in courses addressing scientific reasoning, research ethics, and interdisciplinary perspectives on infectious diseases.
